Bone whistle

Catalogue ID: 765

Description

Before the invention of plastic, many cheap everyday items were made from the animal bones and horns left over from butchery. This whistle is a typical example of an item using the natural size and form of the bone, boiled and then carved while soft to make the whistle components.
