Floor Slab – Anthony Lambert jnr
Description
Blue slate ledger commemorating Anthony Lambert jnr (1657-84), son of Anthony Lambert snr. He was married to Elizabeth Skinner, daughter of another former Mayor, William Skinner. The inscription is carved in upper case, low relief, in border around the stone, with a central roundel (650 mm diameter) in which the Lambert arms are carved in relief. The shield: gules, a chevron between three lambs passant argent, a chief chequy or and azure. (Red, with three lambs in profile and a chevron in silver/white; across the top, a checked band of blue and gold). On top of the helmet, the crest is a lamb passant argent (standing lamb in profile, white or silver).
