Description
Wall plaque to former Mayor, Sheriff and Vice-Lieutenant Rupert Alec-Smith (1913-83), and his wife Suzette Genevieve, née Watson (1918-99). It complements the adjacent one commemorating his ancestors, in neo-Georgian style, polychrome, with heraldic device, winged cherub-heads and skulls. he was a founder of Hull Georgian Society.
Lettering in script. Heraldic device: azure a hazel tree couped and fructed proper between three ancient crowns. Issuant from an ancient crown or a cubit arm, the hand grasping an arrow bent sinister proper entwined with a scroll argent lined azure bearing the words 'Semper Paratus'.
