Description

Cracked and broken blue slate ledger with white filled or painted inscription, formerly indoors. It commemorates Caroline Cattley, née Carter (1790-1839) and her husband Richard Cattley (1790-1866). She was originally from Bury in Hampshire. Richard Cattley (1789-1866) was a York-born wine merchant at 160 High Street, living in later life at 11 Regent Terrace. He was not buried in Holy Trinity, dying after the burial ground was closed, but at Spring Bank cemetery.

who died February 20:th 1866,
Aged 76 Years.
Whose remains are interred
in the spring-bank cemetery.

Legible, but broken into several pieces for many years (mentioned in NADFAS 1986). Came apart when taken up c 2016, now pieced back together in outdoor setting.
