Description

Holy Trinity Church 1938 authorised King James Bible awarde by the Patronage Society upon 100 years of its management. Published by Oxford university press 1930.

Black pigskin binding with gilt lettering the Holy Bible on the banded spine. Cover reads "Holy Trinity Church 1938 Kingston Upon Hull". Binding is well worn through regular usage. Boards are in tact. Text block in gilt edged and in tact.

Interior bindings are in good condition with fmarbled endpapers. There are many pages with finger markings, pen and pencil notes and rudomentary repairs indicating that the Bible has been read regularly and was regularly used on the lectern. There is foxing on a few pages.

The first three pages attache at the front are smaller paper size than that the rest of the Bible and include the index which names the books of the Old and new Testament. this is in porr condition and has been Sellotaped over as a repair. Following this a two-page introduction from the Most High and Mighty Prince James by the grace of God King of Great Britain.

Bible is in frequent use so wear and tear is usual. The spine and text block are intact and attached through the exterior is worn. Some rudimentary repairs would need to be removed and the volume conserved professionally to mitigate further deterioration.

Storage ina dry environment is critical.
