Description

Worn incised stone, currently under carpet, commemorating Betty (Elizabeth) Slingsby (née Hendry; 1772-1837). Her parents, John Hendry (1731-1819), who was Permit-writer to the Excise Office, and Elizabeth Hendry (d. 1830), are said to be in an adjoining vault. Her husband is William Rowland Slingsby (1771-96) is said to have died in Jamaica, though whether he was a planter, seaman or soldier is not clear.

who are entombed
in an adjoining Vault,
and Relict of WILLIAM

who died in Jamaica in 1796
Aged 25 Years.
